Everything official happens on one website: pmsuryaghar.gov.in, the national portal for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. You register once, log in, submit an application tied to your electricity connection, and then your DISCOM and a registered vendor take it from there. Below is exactly what each step looks like in 2026.
What the PM Surya Ghar Portal Does
The portal is where you apply for the subsidy, get DISCOM feasibility approval, record your installation, request net metering, and trigger the subsidy payment to your bank. You'll need three things ready before you start: your electricity consumer / account number (printed on your bill), your registered mobile number, and your bank account details for the subsidy. For the full subsidy breakdown by system size, see our PM Surya Ghar subsidy guide.
Step 1: Register on the Portal
- Go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in and click "Apply for Rooftop Solar."
- Select your state and your electricity distribution company (DISCOM) — in Madhya Pradesh that's MPPKVVCL (west/Indore zone), MPMKVVCL (central/Bhopal zone) or MPPoKVVCL (east).
- Enter your electricity consumer number and your mobile number, then verify with the OTP sent to your phone.
- Enter your email to complete registration.
Step 2: Log In
Once registered, log in with your consumer number and mobile number (authenticated by OTP each time — there's no separate password to remember). This takes you to your applicant dashboard, where you submit and track everything.
Step 3: Submit Your Application
- From the dashboard, open the rooftop solar application form.
- Fill in your details and the system capacity you want (most homes choose 2–3 kW; 3 kW captures the maximum subsidy).
- Submit. Your application now goes to your DISCOM for a feasibility check.
- Once feasibility is approved, get the system installed by a DISCOM-registered vendor (this is where r-solar comes in for MP homeowners).
- After installation, submit the plant details and apply for net metering.
Step 4: Track Your Application Status
Log back in any time and open "Track Application" on your dashboard to see the current stage — feasibility, installation, inspection, net meter, or subsidy. The portal also sends SMS updates to your registered mobile at each stage. Typical end-to-end timelines in MP run 4–8 weeks, mostly depending on DISCOM feasibility and net-meter installation.
Step 5: How the Subsidy Reaches You
After the net meter is installed and the DISCOM verifies your system, you submit your bank account details and a cancelled cheque on the portal. The subsidy — up to ₹78,000 for a 3 kW-plus system (₹30,000/kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the 3rd kW) — is then credited directly to your bank account, usually within 30–45 days. You pay the installer the full amount upfront and the government reimburses the subsidy portion to you.

Three things: your electricity consumer/account number (on your bill), your registered mobile number, and your bank account details with a cancelled cheque for the subsidy. After installation you'll also submit your system/plant details and apply for net metering through the portal.
In Madhya Pradesh, the full process typically takes 4–8 weeks — registration and application are quick, but DISCOM feasibility approval and net-meter installation take the most time. The subsidy is then credited to your bank account, usually within 30–45 days of the system being verified.
Yes. A DISCOM-registered installer can manage the entire portal journey on your behalf — registration, application, DISCOM feasibility, installation, net metering, and the subsidy claim. r-solar does exactly this for homeowners across MP, so you don't have to navigate the portal yourself.
Yes. The up-to-₹78,000 subsidy requires ALMM-listed panels installed by a registered vendor, and from June 1, 2026, the cells must also be from an ALMM List-II manufacturer. Using non-ALMM panels or an unregistered installer can forfeit the subsidy — always confirm the panel model on the MNRE portal first.
